West Ham should be looking to qualify for the Europa League in the near future, according to former striker Bobby Zamora.
Zamora, speaking exclusively to 888sport, believes the competition is the next natural step forward for the club.
West Ham aren’t going to win the league at present but the next target should be getting to European football and into the Europa League. Some people turn their noses up at that but when you get to the quarter finals and beyond it becomes a very real tournament with some quality teams in there.
Obviously too there is a route to the Champions League if you win it. The Europa League is a fantastic opportunity and a fantastic tournament and I loved getting to a European final with Fulham.
Manuel Pellegrini has never hidden his intentions to guide the club back into Europe, while those behind the scenes will no doubt be keen to host European football at the London Stadium on a regular basis going forward.
Zamora knows all about the memories that can be created in the competition after playing a key role in Fulham’s run to the final back in the 2009/10 season.

It looked like this could be West Ham’s year to secure European qualification, but some inconsistent results since the turn of the year have seen Pellegrini’s side slip down the table.
