Pablo Zabaleta has revealed that he is close to triggering an automatic contract extension clause in his current deal at the club.
Speaking about his future, as reported by the Newham Recorder, Zabaleta explained that he could automatically trigger an extension in the near future.
If I play in 60 per cent of the games, automatically the contract can extend for another season. This is something I am not too far away from. If I play a few more games, I will have a chance to sit with the manager and the club and decide what to do.

It remains to be seen what will happen with the Argentinian defender this summer, with the former Manchester City man out of contract, unless he does go on to trigger the automatic extension.
It has been suggested that he could play on with the Hammers or even hang up his boots for good and return to his former side as part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff.
Zabaleta has been a regular for West Ham this season and only needs to play two more games in order to trigger the clause.
Clauses like these are not uncommon for clubs to insert into contracts for older players such as Zabaleta in this instance.
