West Ham have reportedly stepped up their interest in Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez, and are ready to offer him a wage of £80,000-a-week.
The Hammers have been interested in signing the Uruguay international for some time now, and were most heavily linked with a move in the January window, although nothing came of it.
According to reports from the Mirror (28 March, page 56), as cited in Sportslens, the Hammers are keen to strengthen their offensive options ahead of next season.

Gomez has become a hugely influential figure for Celta, scoring nine goals in La Liga during this current campaign.
If West Ham are to sign their target this summer, it will cost them an arm and a leg, with Celta having previously demanding interested clubs pay nothing less than their £43million release clause.
Celta are currently in the relegation zone though, and if they hit the drop, West Ham could only have to pay half of that fee.
The report claims that the Hammers see Gomez as the long-term replacement for Marko Arnautovic.
