West Ham are reportedly plotting a summer swoop for Alaves defender Guillermo Maripan.
According to claims from Spanish news outlet La Segunda, the Hammers made a January move to sign the player but had an offer worth €10 million turned down.
The 24-year-old has been a standout performer for Alaves this season and is catching the eyes of several clubs from across Europe.
West Ham appeared to have been interested in signing the Chilean defender during the January transfer window as they attempted to cope in the absence of injured centre-backs Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid.

However, Alaves stood firm and held on to their star defender after he shone in the first half of the campaign.
Despite failing in their reported initial attempts to sign Maripan from the La Liga outfit, it seems Manuel Pellegrini is not giving up his hopes of signing his compatriot in the summer.
If West Ham are to return with a fresh move for the central defender, though, they will face competition from two of Europe’s prestigious clubs.
La Segunda’s report indicates that Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on Maripan’s consistent displays at the back for Alaves.
