West Ham’s move for striker Maxi Gomez has collapsed due to the player’s wage demands, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
The forward was set to agree a deal to join the Hammers in the summer, but Bailey believes that the deal is now dead as the club could not come to an agreement with the player’s representatives regarding his potential salary at West Ham.

Gomez reportedly has a release clause worth around £43m in his contract with Celta Vigo, but West Ham were apparently looking to pay around £40m to secure a deal which would have seen him arrive at the London Stadium in the summer.
However, if Bailey’s reporting is accurate, then that deal is off the table, at least for the time being, as the Hammers were unwilling to meet the terms that the Uruguayan star was apparently asking for.
As it stands, the 22-year-old will not be joining the Hammers at the end of the season.
