West Ham are closing in on the signing of Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo, according to Sky Sports News.
The striker currently has a buyout clause of €50million in his contract that West Ham are reportedly willing to meet.
The Hammers announced earlier this week that striker Marko Arnautovic is free to leave the club during the January transfer window, though the Austrian has ruled out a move away from the London Stadium.
West Ham were close to agreeing a deal for the Uruguayan last summer, though were put off by Celta’s valuation of the forward at the time.
According to reports, the £43.2million deal for Gomez could see the striker re-join Celta on loan until the end of the season, given their struggles in La Liga this season.

Celta are currently just one point above the relegation zone in Spain’s top division, without a win in their last five in all competitions.
News of Arnautovic staying has increased speculation of Javier Hernandez potentially leaving the club, with the striker said to be seeking a move to Valencia.
The Spanish side are currently pursuing a move for Hernandez, and Valencia boss Marcelino believes West Ham will allow the striker to leave the club in January.
