West Ham are in talks with Celta Vigo about a possible deal for striker Maxi Gomez, according to Sky Sports.

The Hammers are looking at new strikers to potentially replace Marko Arnautovic, who wants to move to the Chinese Super League and it looks like Gomez is the man they’ve identified as the player to bring in.

However, Celta Vigo are in no rush to sell the Uruguayan international and insist that the only way he will leave this month is if a club meets his €50m release clause in full.
West Ham seemingly want to negotiate a lower fee for the 22-year-old but Celta hold all the cards, so it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.
West Ham broke their club record transfer fee to sign Felipe Anderson in the summer but it looks like they’ll need to break it again if they do want to get Gomez in this window.
