Jack Wilshere is closing in on a return to the West Ham first team after ankle surgery, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Arsenal man is pushing to make the bench for Manuel Pellegrini’s side fixture against Premier League champions Manchester City this weekend.
Wilshere has spent three months on the sidelines after injuring his ankle in the 1-0 loss to Wolves back in September.
The Hammers have lost just two of the eight games the England international has missed and the England international may find his route back to the starting line-up blocked by the form of duo Pedro Obiang and Declan Rice.

Should Pellegrini decide not to risk Wilshere in the bout against Pep Guardiola’s side, there is hope that the 26-year-old will make the trip north to face Newcastle on the following Saturday.
The midfielder arrived at the London Stadium to much fanfare following his switch from London rivals Arsenal in the summer on a free.
The medical staff at the East London side have been cautious in rushing Wilshere back into action given his history of ankle issues.
This dates all the way back to 2011 when he suffered a stress fracture ankle injury which ruled him out for the next 524 days.
