Jamaal Lascelles says there was never anything serious in speculation linking him with West Ham and Chelsea over the summer.
Speaking after putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Newcastle, as reported by Chronicle Live, Lascelles explains that his only focus at the moment is playing for the Magpies.
All that speculation, I don’t think anything was serious. Now I can focus on Newcastle completely with no other distractions. I need to get my head down and start getting this team higher up the league.

West Ham were among the teams to be linked with a move to sign the player during the summer, while Tottenham were also said to be keen.
The player has signed a new six-year deal at St James Park, ending any speculation about his future.
The new deal will see the defender earn a reported £70,000 a week at the club.
With concerns over Newcastle’s form this season, there had been suggestions clubs could come in for him in January.
The 24-year-old has been Newcastle’s star man throughout their time in the Premier League and has now seen his form rewarded with a bumper new deal at the club.
The news will come as a major boost to the Premier League strugglers, who would have been desperate to keep hold of him for as long as possible.
