West Ham United have suffered an injury blow with the news that Jack Wilshere is set to miss six weeks after having surgery on his injured ankle.
As reported by The Guardian, the midfielder picked up the injury in training and as such, he missed West Ham’s 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.
Wilshere sprained his ankle in a training session and both he and West Ham hoped the damage was not too serious but scans revealed a problem that required minor surgery, so the England international went under the knife.

Wilshere endured ankle problems during his time at Arsenal so it’s a worry to see another ankle issue arise so early on in his West Ham career.
Manuel Pellegrini urged West Ham’s owners to sign Wilshere in the summer and they backed the manager, although they did have some concerns about his injury record and this latest issue is sure to get them questioning if giving Wilshere a three-year contract was a wise move.
