West Ham have made an approach to sign former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure on a free transfer.
According to reports in Italy from Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited on Sport Witness, the Hammers are one of the clubs in the running to sign the Ivorian, who has previously worked with Manuel Pellegrini at City.
The player has been linked with a move to the London Stadium for some time, but the report claims that an approach has been made.

One factor that has not been made clear is when the approach itself was lodged.
The Hammers could still conclude a deal for the former Premier League winner, despite the transfer window closing after the player left Manchester City earlier this year.
Toure has talked up the possibility of remaining in the Premier League in the past, but the player is also likely to attract interest from several clubs.
