West Ham midfielder Edimilson Fernandes is set to undergo a medical with Italian side Fiorentina on Sunday ahead of a proposed season-long loan move, according to Sky Sport reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian outfit have just allowed their midfielder Carlos Sanchez to join West Ham on deadline day and it looks like the Hammers are prepared to allow Fernandes to head in the opposite direction for the upcoming campaign.
The 22-year-old has made only 23 competitive starts for the Hammers since joining from FC Sion two years ago, with his only goal for the club coming in an EFL Cup victory against rivals Chelsea in 2016.
The Swiss international’s time in London has been hampered by a series of injuries and is not thought to be a part of new boss Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.
The proposed deal will see Fiorentina pay West Ham a small fee for Fernandes’ services this season, with the option to sign the midfielder permanently at the end of the campaign.
