West Ham have announced the signing of Xande Silva, who joins the club’s academy set-up.
To confirm the move the club released a video of the young forward signing his contract after joining from Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães.
Reports suggested yesterday that the player was to undergo a medical on Wednesday prior to an official announcement.
It is believed that the deal cost the Hammers somewhere in the region of £1-2 million for Silva’s services.
Vitória Guimarães have also reportedly inserted a sell-on clause, should the youngster go on to bigger and better things.
The player is expected to join up with the club’s youth side, but at the age of 21, Silva will be hoping to make an impact at youth level quickly, with the view to earning a place in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad going forward.
West Ham will be hoping that Silva is not the last signing to arrive from Portugal this summer with officials flying out for transfer talks to discuss a number of deals.
