Tottenham have joined West Ham and Sporting in the race to sign Joao Mario from Inter.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited on Sport Witness, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are keen to sign the player but would prefer the option of taking him on loan.
Leicester and Real Betis are also believed to be in the running for a potential summer deal.
Mario spent last season on loan at West Ham and endured a mixed season in London.
The Hammers are keen to re-sign the player this summer and like Spurs, would prefer the prospect of taking the player on loan.
Inter are looking to offload the player would prefer a club to sign him permanently.
However, the Italian’s asking price for the Portuguese international make a summer deal highly unlikely.
Mario only started 12 times in the Premier League last season, finding the back of the net twice along the way.
