West Ham look set to miss out on welcoming Marcelo to the London Stadium this summer after Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said the defender would not be leaving.
A report in L’Equipe (translated by Inside Futbol) revealed that despite interest from the East Londoners, the Brazilian would be remaining in Ligue 1 for at least another season.
The experienced 31-year-old is deemed to be an irreplaceable component in the heart of the Lyon defensive line, and consequently Aulas is not ready to say goodbye any time soon.

Marcelo made 39 appearances for Lyon last season, starting in each one that number.
Arriving from Besiktas last summer, Lyon are eager to draw more out of their £5.5 million investment before moving on.
New Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini recently recruited 21-year-old Issa Diop to join the heart of his defence, and has been looking for an experienced pair of boots to line up alongside the Frenchman.
