West Ham are to bolster their squad with the free transfer signing of former Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra, according to Paul Joyce of the Times.

David Moyes was unable to add a defender to his squad in the January transfer window but there was always a feeling that they could sign a free agent after the window closed to plug any holes and it appears as if they are.
Evra has been out of work since being released in November by Marseille following an incident with a fan which saw the France international left-back kick out at the spectator.

The 36-year-old was subsequently handed a seven-month ban from UEFA club competitions but is eligible to play in domestic league matches and West Ham are expected to bring in the defender on a deal until the end of the season.
Moyes worked with Evra during their time together at Manchester United. The left-back has made 273 Premier League appearances, scoring on seven occasions and picking up five title-winning medals.
