West Ham’s striker search appears to be over after the club completed a deal to sign Jordan Hugill from Preston for a reported £9m.

With Diafra Sakho sold to Rennes earlier this month, Andy Carroll out for the foreseeable future and the likes of Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio struggling with injuries, David Moyes was under pressure to bring in a striker this month and the club have delivered, albeit in underwhelming fashion.
Hugill, 25, has ever played higher than the Championship but has impressed for Preston in the last 18 months, scoring eight goals in 27 games so far this season after notching 12 in 44 last term.

Crystal Palace and Leeds United were both also interested in signing the former Hartlepool and Port Vale striker but West Ham were the club willing to front the most cash to get the deal over the line.
Andre Ayew left West Ham to join Swansea in a £18m deal earlier today.
