After allowing Diafra Sakho to complete a move to Rennes earlier today, West Ham face a race against the clock to bring in a replacement striker before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

Following up on their initial interest earlier this month, the Hammers have reopened negotiations with Russian side Krasnodar regarding a move for Fedor Smolov.

The Russian captain has 10 goals in 13 league games so far this season and is valued at £12m, but West Ham are hoping to strike an agreement to take him on loan with a view to a permanent move.
Andy Carroll is sidelined for several months with a foot fracture which has left the Hammers awfully short of attacking options for the second half of the season.
Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker is also high on West Ham’s wishlist before the transfer window shuts following the loss of Pedro Obiang to a potentially lengthy knee injury.
