West Ham have been searching for a long-term answer at right-back for some time now and the club are ready to join the race to sign Fulham’s highly-rated defender Ryan Fredericks.

Sam Byram has struggled for form and fitness since arriving from Leeds two years ago and Pablo Zabaleta is well into the Autumn of his career and the club are now considering their options.

Fredericks came through the youth ranks at Tottenham but after failing to make the grade there he joined Bristol City for £225,000 in August 2015 but later that month expressed his desire to leave the club citing personal reasons and joined Fulham for a similar fee.
The 25-year-old has developed into one of the best fullbacks in the Championship and has been linked with moves to Swansea and Stoke, with the latter already seeing a bid rejected by the West London club.
West Ham are short of defensive cover across the board and Fredericks is being considered as a potentially low cost, low-risk option before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
