West Ham appear to be edging closer to their first signing of the January transfer window.
Speaking ahead of the Hammers’ FA Cup fourth round tie with Wigan on Saturday, David Moyes confirmed to the press that Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario was having a medical ahead of a loan move to the club until the end of the season.
Moyes said when questioned on his arrival:
Your sources are correct. It is a loan, we I’ll be able to tell you more once it’s done.
The Hammers have been in talks with Inter for the best part of a fortnight regarding a loan move for the Euro 2016 winner and have seemingly reached an agreement.

While it’s not yet confirmed, reports suggest that West Ham will pay Inter a loan fee of £1.5m and will cover a large proportion of his wages. The deal is said to include a £26m option to make it permanent in the summer.
The 25-year-old ball-playing midfielder is set to be unveiled as a West Ham player in the next 24 hours if it all goes to plan.
