West Ham have been sweating over the fitness of Andy Carroll this month following reports of an ankle complaint, but the Hammers have now learned the extent of the injury.
The Telegraph are reporting that following scans on the injury, West Ham have discovered that Carroll has sustained a hairline fracture in his foot which will keep him out for up to three months.
Carroll’s last start came in the 2-1 home win against West Brom where he scored his first goals of the season to help the Hammers to a crucial win. He played two days later away at Tottenham despite David Moyes confirming he was injured.

After skipping out on training complaining of soreness in his ankle, Carroll was sent for scans and was assessed by specialists this past week and his absence is yet another crushing blow for the striker, whose World Cup hopes are all but over, and for West Ham who have lost another attacker to injury.
Chelsea were interested in signing the £20m-rated target man but his injury came at the wrong time for all involved. It’s unknown whether West Ham will move in the transfer market to replace the stricken striker.
