News surfaced yesterday afternoon that West Ham had entered talks with Inter Milan to take midfielder Joao Mario on loan for the rest of the season and initial claims seemed to suggest that the Portugal international wasn’t overly keen on the idea.
Fresh reports from Italy suggest that Mario is now seriously considering joining the Hammers on loan to fulfil his desire to play some regular football, especially as he looks to secure his place in Portugal’s World Cup squad.
So far this season, Mario has made just 14 Serie A appearances, starting on five occasions and he’s provided five assists in those games without scoring – not the return Inter are looking for following his £36m move from Sporting Lisbon 18 months ago.

Inter are prepared to let the player leave this month, even if it’s only a loan move, providing they receive a suitable financial package.
The Euro 2016 winner is a player who can get on the ball and dictate the game in the attacking third and the addition of a player like Joao Mario would certainly make the Hammers a more potent attacking threat.
