Despite being recalled by West Ham, Reece Oxford could still end up playing his football for Borussia Monchengladbach going forward – if reports are to be believed.
Due to a clause in the loan contract, West Ham exercised their option to recall the England U20 international from the Bundesliga side after he made just four appearances in the first half of the season.
Even though he featured sparingly, the talk coming from Monchengladbach is that they were excited about his improvement and progress, and now they want to bring him back on a permanent basis.

Reports closer to home suggest that West Ham want to see what Oxford can offer in the first-team and are excited to see the 19-year-old in action for them in 2018, but Monchengladbach are still trying to bring him back to German football.
Sporting director Max Eberl has reportedly been in London holding talks to sign Oxford, but nothing has been agreed thus far, and it’s claimed that they could even try for another loan move if a permanent transfer is a no-go.
Oxford is regarded as one of the best young prospects in English football and the West Ham staff are looking forward to watching him continue his development in East London.
