Hammers handed hope of William Carvalho deal

David Moyes has reportedly been told by Sporting Clube de Portugal that they are open to discussing a deal for William Carvalho, according to the Express.

There were rumours in the last window that the Portuguese midfielder may move to the London Stadium, but things got heated between the clubs and a deal fell through.

The Portuguese side said that Slaven Bilic made an illegal approach for Carvalho, with the president of Sporting calling David Sullivan and David Gold ‘d***o brothers.’

However, Sporting have reportedly approached West Ham, now under Moyes, saying that they are open to talks if Moyes can reach the £28 million asking price.

When asked about the situation, the 25-year-old midfielder said:

There was this soap regarding West Ham but it is not interesting, it is not important because there was nothing.

Moyes has reportedly been told by West Ham that he will be given enough transfer money for at least four players to try and push the Hammers up the table.

However before that, the Scottish manager has to try and push out of the bottom three with the players he has inherited from Bilic.

His first test is this Sunday where West Ham make the short trip to Vicarage Road to face Marco Silva’s Watford, currently in ninth place.
