For many years now, Josh Cullen has been one of the standout talents in the West Ham academy but to date, he’s not really had a fair crack at a run in the first-team.
The 21-year-old midfielder has made just four first-team appearances for the Hammers and has spent the last 18 months on loan at League One outfit Bradford City where he’s furthered his footballing development.
With 60 appearances under his belt in the Football League, Cullen is now looking ahead to returning to West Ham in the summer and hopes to be more involved in the first-team but acknowledges that it might not happen for him.
“My dream has always been to break into the first-team at West Ham but I’m aware that might not happen,” Cullen told West Yorkshire Sport.
“If this was the move that suited me best I would have no problem because I’ve enjoyed my time at Bradford.”
West Ham have recruited heavily in the midfield area in recent seasons and are impressed by the development that Edimilson Fernandes has made this season and he looks set for an increased role in the squad next season.
Cullen’s time doesn’t look like it’ll come anytime soon.
