Stick or Twist? What West Ham should do with their Goalkeepers

The current goalkeeper situation at West Ham right now is close to a disaster. After mistakes which mostly cost West Ham a win against Sunderland, Darren Randolph has come under the firing line even more than before with many people calling for Adrian to start over him against Everton this Saturday.

Adrian started the season as West Ham’s number one before big mistakes against Watford and Stoke which saw Randolph come in for him which proved a good call as many good performances from the Ireland international kept the Hammers in many games.

On the flip side, during West Ham’s recent dip in form, there was also a massive dip in form for Randolph, conceding 13 goals in his last 6 games with mistakes from him coming in many of them which have warranted calls for Adrian to come back in.

In my opinion, I want Adrian to come back in, Randolph hasn’t been good enough recently and is not confident which is awful for a goalkeeper, although Adrian definitely has a mistake in him, I think he is ultimately the better goalkeeper.

However, does this show that a goalkeeper is a priority in the summer? Considering that both of the first team ‘keepers are both error-prone and are arguably both backup goalkeepers it clearly shows that there is a problem.

There are many options for goalkeepers that could be available to buy in the summer, like Joe Hart. Although Hart seems to be enjoying his time in Torino, will they pay up to sign him permanently? He’s not wanted at Manchester City anymore so he could be an option.

Another option is Jordan Pickford from Sunderland. The Black Cats are most likely getting relegated this season but Jordan Pickford has been one of there stand out performers this season and it showed how important he was when he got injured and their form plummeted.

Either way, Slaven Bilic has been very supportive of his ‘keeper options but it’s evident that we need a change between the sticks, not just for now, but for next season as well.
