West Ham United are famous for bringing up young talent with notable players such as Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, Glen Johnson, Jermain Defoe and the current West Ham captain Mark Noble.
However, over the past few years the “Academy of Football” hasn’t produced as many success stories than previous years.
Although the success hasn’t been great recently, they did win the Premier League Cup last season and there are still a lot of youngsters who can easily reach the top with some impressing on loan and in the Under 23’s with others getting places on the substitutes bench for Premier League matches.
Last night, the West Ham Under 23’s played at the London Stadium for the first ever time, beating Fulham Under 23’s 2-0. After yesterday’s game, the Under 23 manager, Terry Westley said: “I was delighted with their application, delighted with the way we played and they way they showed some grit and determination, in the end, to see the game through”.
