Player Ratings – West Ham 0-5 Man City

Following the 2-0 loss to Manchester United on Monday, West Ham United were looking to bounce back against the other team from Manchester in the FA Cup Third Round at the London Stadium.

From the kick off there was chances being created by both teams with end-to-end football for the first fifteen minutes. As the half progressed City started to show the cracks with possession and chances increasing in the West Ham half. After multiple attacks from City, Angelo Ogbonna put in a weak challenge which left the referee, Michael Oliver pointing to the penalty spot. The converted penalty from Yaya Toure set the tone of the match with West Ham having their backs to the wall for the remaining sixty minutes.

The attacks continued leading to two quick concession goals from Manchester City with an own goal from Harvard Nordtveit in the 41st and simple play leaving David Silva slotting home in an open goal in the 43rd minute. The humiliation for the hammers continued in the second half when Sergio Aguero flicked the ball past Adrian into the goal in the 50th minute and a header that could not be stopped from Mark Noble on the line gave England youngster John Stones his first goal for the club in the closing minutes of the game.

The third round tie was a difficult match for West Ham fans to swallow and left the fans embarrassed by their team’s display on the field. The win was thoroughly deserved from Manchester City and they now progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
