La Liga giants Barcelona and Sevilla have joined West Ham United in the race for highly rated Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, according to French source Sport.
Martial lost his place in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven after a difficult start to the season, which the Portuguese manager blamed on difficulties in Anthony’s personal life.
Martial appeared in each of Man United’s opening five league fixtures, but has started just four out of 15 since – partly down to the success of his competition, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Frenchman is far from out-of-favour, however. Mourinho still believes he is a ‘rare talent‘, but demands the player continues to work hard both on and off the pitch in order to reach his full potential.
One way for Martial to reach his full potential is with gametime, which West Ham offered with their loan offer. Barcelona and Sevilla have since joined the race, having been alerted by Martial’s situation, and hope to take advantage too.
Mourinho allowing Martial to leave on loan seems somewhat unlikely, considering Memphis Depay is being heavily linked with a winter exit, but the papers are not ruling it out.
