The Eredivisie has received a lot of criticism in recent years. The level would be too low, the players inefficient and tactically underwhelming. These critiques were correct. In recent years both the Dutch clubs have been underperforming in Europe, as has the national team (with the exception of Louis van Gaal’s masterstroke).
Ever since has the Dutch football been in a crisis? This was partially due to the strict regulations the Dutch FA (KNVB) has applied on Financial Fair Play, being one of the few in the world to do so. After the decline, the clubs are financially healthy and gradually improving. This season both Ajax and AZ have survived the group stages of the Europa League and will face Legia Warschau and Olympique Lyonnais respectively.
As a Dutch West Ham fan, I fell there are some serious prospects in the Eredivisie up for grabs that could benefit West Ham that are worth to have a look at.
