During the course of West Ham’s long history, there have been many great players such as the 1966 World Cup winning trio of Martin Peters, Sir Geoff Hurst and, the late, great, Bobby Moore; the Boys of 86′, Alan Devonshire, Frank McAvennie and Tony Cottee and the heroes of the Farewell Boleyn season, Michail Antonio, Mark Noble and most recent Hammer of the Year, Dimitri Payet.
However, there have been many players who the Hammers have let go and have later, regretted that decision. Many of these players have either thrived at other clubs or who are better than their eventual replacements.
These players have left for many reasons, such as:
- Lack of first-team football
- Better offers from bigger clubs
- Relegation
- Failing to perform in a certain system
- Attitude problems
- Failure to sign on a permanent deal
Many West Ham fans that I know will love to have these players play for the Hammers again and here they are.
