Michail Antonio was recently given his first call-up to the England squad by Sam Allardyce. It was incredibly well deserved and, if anything, overdue. He’s scored the most Premier League goals of any English midfielder since August 2015, and he’s spent half of that time at right back. He’s quick, strong, powerful, can shoot and score with his head and would be an asset to any team.
Hopefully, Antonio will get on the pitch against Slovakia on Sunday and make England worth watching for a West Ham fan again. If he does get some game time, he will become the 40th player to play for England while playing for the club (if academy graduates were included the number would be much higher). The 39 players so far have accumulated 415 England caps while playing for West Ham, of which Bobby Moore provided 108, but who were the last five Hammers to play for England?
