West Ham’s transfer relationship with Tottenham Hotspur has been somewhat strained in recent times, predominantly due to the cold relationship between Daniel Levy and David Sullivan.
A prime example of this was in January 2015 when West Ham were trying to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Spurs, so Carlton Cole could go to West Brom, meaning the Baggies could sell Brown Ideye. But in the eleventh hour, Daniel Levy decided West Ham were too close of a rival to Spurs so have Adebayor and subsequently, all deals fell through, leaving West Ham with Carlton Cole up front and West Brom with Brown Ideye, who scored a brace against West Ham to knock us out of the FA Cup no more than 2 weeks later. Ahhhh classic Levy.
The frosty relationship works both ways as when Tottenham enquired for the services for Cheikhou Kouyate, Sullivan responded with an enquiry for Harry Kane.
So transactions between the Hammers and Spurs are unlikely, but with all the new TV money flying around, anything is possible. Here are three Spurs who West Ham should try and sign.
