The new season is now less than two weeks away and West Ham still have some serious transfer business to do. The promised marquee striker signing is still languishing in the distance somewhere and injuries are only adding to the growing list of players we need to sign.
With that in mind, the Hammers are beginning to turn to their Premier League rivals for new players, largely because a player who is already proven in the league is preferable and there is now not long left in pre-season for new signings from abroad to grow accustomed to English football.
Newly promoted teams can sometimes offer some hidden gems and often at a lower price than you would get from the established Premier League teams.
