It has been confirmed by Jack Sullivan of West Ham United that Deportivo Maldonado striker Jonathan Calleri has agreed to join the club.
The Hammers had reportedly been in for him for some time but they had been concerned that he wouldn’t receive a work permit. However he has acquired an EU passport due to family connections and this has boosted the hopes of receiving a work permit.

These reports have essentially been confirmed by Jack Sullivan and the work permit application will be reviewed within the next week.
West Ham have been looking to add a striker for some time and Calleri certainly fits the bill as he has been a clinical scorer in his career so far. He has scored 19 goals in 46 appearances since 2014 and West Ham see him as a promising player for the future because of this.
Even with the signing of Calleri, it is expected West Ham will chase another striker with Carlos Bacca continuing to be linked with a move to the London club.
