West Ham recently equaled the club’s record with eight games unbeaten, but the Hammers could not continue the streak against Newcastle United on Saturday as they lost 2-1.
The Magpies scored two goals within the first 15 minutes and West Ham were unable to complete the comeback. It has been a theme of late for West Ham to start slowly, and while the Hammers stormed back against Bournemouth on Tuesday, the attack never seemed to be fluid against Newcastle.
Still, West Ham are in sixth place with that loss and the Irons welcome Manchester City to the Boleyn Ground at the weekend for the final time, barring a possible FA Cup meeting.
