Former Hammers captain Kevin Nolan’s proposed move to League 2 side Leyton Orient has fallen through, HITC are reporting.
Nolan has been training with Orient since the termination of his contract at the end of August. However, Orient are said to have taken their attempted deal to sign him off of the table after Nolan took too long to commit to the club on a reported two-year deal.
It was seen as a surprise to many that he was training and maybe joining a League 2 side, with the belief being that he still has the ability to perform at at least Championship level; with Cardiff and former club Bolton hoping to swoop for the now free agent.
Nolan joined West Ham at the start of the 2011/12 season in which he played a pivotal role in achieving promotion back to the Premier League. He followed that with solid performances to consolidate the Hammers’ top flight status. However, since then, much like Big Sam, he was received with mixed feelings by fans, and under the new regime of Slaven Billic, it was agreed that it would be in the best interests of both parties if they parted company.
