Dimitri Payet has had an incredible start to the new season, netting three times and assisting twice, already making a name for himself at the Boleyn Ground. Most recently, he assisted Victor Moses in the 2-1 victory against Manchester City.

The 28-year-old Frenchman signed for the Hammers from Marseille for a £10.7million fee this summer. Last season, the attacking midfielder scored 7 goals in 36 games and assisted 16 times in Ligue 1. The 2014/15 season was an excellent one for Payet, highlighted by the fact that he created the most chances in all of the top European leagues.
The French international made an incredible start to the Premier League season at the Emirates, assisting once and giving a stand out performance. This was the first real sight of the potential Payet shows and what an influential player he could be for West Ham this season. Although he has impressed in all of the games so far, Newcastle was again a stand out, managing to score twice and inspire the Hammers to victory at home.

Payet has brought a lot to the team. He has added a much needed air of pace and creativity, highlighted by the goals he has scored. The Hammers have looked a much stronger side at the start of this season than the back end of last season, and although there have been other contributing factors, I believe Payet has been one of the major ones. He fits perfectly into the managerial style, complimenting the formation and being the attacking force the Irons needed in order to move forward as club.
Personally I believe Dimitri Payet will be the greatest signing of the summer, and will have a massively successful season resulting in the Hammer of the Year award. I think this has been an excellent bit of business by the owners and something to be proud of, as this is the player who will take us to the Olympic Stadium in a great state.
