Arabian Gulf League record breaker Moussa Sow has revealed he rejected moves to Premier League sides Sunderland and West Ham United to make his €17-million switch to Al Ahli.
The 29-year-old has signed a lucrative contract at Al Ahli, and spoke of interest elsewhere at a packed press conference this week.
“I received a few offers from West Ham United and Sunderland,” the Senegalese international said. “But in the end, I decided to come to Al Ahli.”
Sow had even admitted to watching the team he has just signed for, prior to making the move across the continents.
“I watched their matches in the AFC Champions League. I had some offers from the UAE during the last three or four years, but decided to come here because it’s the project I like.”

Whether West Ham’s interest was genuine remains to be seen, but either way, it appears that Sow’s agent has done a remarkable job in getting his client such a lucrative move.
Did he use clubs like Sunderland and West Ham as bait for wealthier clubs to make their move? Either way, he became a very wealthy man by moving to Al Ahli.
