Hammers agree £2.2m loan fee for Serbian striker but player rejects move

Premier League side West Ham United agreed a £2.2million deal to loan Roma forward Adem Ljajic, however the player was not too keen on moving to England and rejected the move, according to Italian outlet Di Marzio.

The deal on the table also included the option to sign the Serbian on a permanent basis next summer for a fee of £5.8million, but Ljajic will not be making the move to the Boleyn Ground.

West Ham are in the market for at least one attacking player following various injury problems in addition to the departure of Stewart Downing.

Slaven Bilic has already brought in defender Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus and midfielder Pedro Obiang from Sampdoria, so the East London club are not afraid to delve into the Italian top tier market.

So much so, AC Milan forward Alessandro Matri is reportedly set to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Upton Park, according to the same source. The 31-year-old has bags of top level experience, with various pieces of Italian silverware to his name.
