Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi are reportedly considering a takeover move for West Ham United as ownership uncertainty continues around the London Stadium.
The former Newcastle United co-owners have been named in Sunday’s football gossip as potential players in a fresh ownership story around the Hammers, with Sky Sports’ Paper Talk reporting the claim while rounding up the latest newspaper lines.
Staveley and Ghodoussi were central public figures in Newcastle’s Saudi-backed takeover in 2021 before leaving the St James’ Park boardroom last year. Their names being attached to West Ham is significant because the club are already in a period of major change after relegation and amid repeated focus on Daniel Kretinsky’s position.
West Ham takeover talk adds another layer to rebuild
For West Ham supporters, the immediate point is that this is still a reported consideration rather than a completed bid. There has been no official club announcement and no confirmation of formal talks.
Even so, the timing matters. West Ham are trying to reshape recruitment, reduce costs and prepare for a Championship campaign in which promotion pressure will be immediate. Any serious ownership interest would therefore land directly into decisions over budget, football structure and the wider reset under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Until there is a formal statement, the story should be treated as an early ownership development. But Staveley and Ghodoussi’s track record in Premier League boardrooms makes the link one West Ham fans will watch closely.
