West Ham have reportedly registered an interest in the AC Milan forward, Alessandro Matri according to the Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio.
The former-Juventus man has fallen heavily down the pecking order at Milan after the arrival of Mario Balotelli from Liverpool on loan and is now deemed surplus to requirements. Di Marzio reports that the Hammers have shown an interest in the player with the talks ongoing.
The Italian international started his senior career at Milan in 2002, but only appeared twice before leaving in 2007 after numerous loan spells. In 2007, he joined Cagliari where he featured heavily scoring 36 goals in 125 games.

The 31-year old then made the switch to Juventus in 2011 where his most successful club football to date was played. Matri found the net 27 times in 69 games – before rejoining I Rossoneri in 2013.
Matri has only featured 19 times though under various managers and has often found himself out on loan at the likes of Genoa, Fiorentina, and Juventus where he has found his scoring touch.
The need for a new striker has become apparent to Slaven Bilic over recent weeks with four strikers currently on the sidelines.
