West Ham United target, Charlie Austin has told officials at Newcastle United that he favours a move to St James’ Park despite recent claims that the striker’s, shoulder problem was putting the Magpies off signing him.
The QPR forward has been hotly linked with plenty of sides this summer, including Slaven Bilic’s side, but the Brentwood Gazette is reporting a move up North is favoured by Austin.
The 26-year old was a shining light in an awful season for QPR as the Hoops were condemned to the Championship after only a season in the top flight. During the doomed campaign, Austin found the net 18 times, an incredible tally, especially as QPR, only scored 42 goals all season. The ex-Burnley man is valued at £15m by QPR.
The news will come as a hammer blow to West Ham fans as they desire a prolific goalscorer to lead their side through Europe and the league. With the pack already being shuffled relying on Sakho, Carroll, and Valencia may be a tough ask with Carroll struggling with injuries for so long and Valencia struggling in his first season in English football.
