Juventus centre-back Angelo Ogbonna seems set to be the next signing for West Ham during their busy summer shopping-spree.
The Mirror are reporting that the former Torino man is set to sign for West Ham in a £12m deal, pipping Everton to his signature.
The 27-year-old defender would add depth to the Hammers already strong centre-back group. West Ham also reportedly have eyes on Monaco centre-back Aymen Abdennour, and are willing to pay the Ligue 1 club the €20m they are demanding for the Tunisian.
Ever since the miscued tweet from co-owner David Gold, welcoming Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang with a photo of Ogbonna instead, there has been speculation that the Irons were in for the player, who was also linked with Tottenham and Liverpool.
Signing Ogbonna would potentially leave James Tomkins and James Collins off of the team sheet, but with the Europa League starting on Thursday against FC Lusitans, there will need to be many different options for Slaven Bilic to work with to stave off fatigue and injury.
