Carroll Given First-Team Guarantees

Hammers new boss Slaven Billic has assured Andy Carroll that the big man will be an integral part of the side for the upcoming season the Telegraph reports. This comes following the rumours that Newcastle were launching an audacious bid to bring him back to his home town.

The 26 year old is West Ham’s record transfer fee and is considered to still have a lot to offer. Despite his struggles with injury, when Carroll has been in full fitness, he is very much a dangerous threat to any team.

Since picking up a knee injury at Southampton in February, Carroll has been working hard in order to be fit for the start of the new season and is said to have been alone at Chadwell Heath during the summer break, keen to complete his rehab as quickly as possible.

Rumours surrounding possible attacking options being targeted have been rife. With negotiations for Dimitri Payet seemingly to be ongoing, it must come as some relief to Andy that his new boss has given him assurances that he will remain a key part of the Hammers’ season, no matter what happens with respect to any new possible additional strikers coming in this off-season.
