Having today finally announced the long awaited news that Slaven Billic was to take over as manager of West Ham, it seems that he and the board will be wasting little time in bringing in fresh bodies ahead of the new campaign.
The Mirror reports that there are 3 main targets that the club are pressing hard to bring to the East End. The first of these is the Spanish defensive midfielder Pedro Obiang from Sampdoria, who has signed for the club for a reported €6m. He is a defensive midfielder who is hoped to fill the gap left by the departure of Alex Song, following his loan’s expiration.
Also reported to be high on the Hammers’ wanted list are the Marseille pair Andre-Pierre Gignac and Andre Ayew. Ayew, the highly rated winger is said to be host to many offers at the moment. Having reportedly turned down an offer from AS Roma, Ayew is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League. According to BBC Sport, the Ghanaian international was in Swansea today to hold talks over a possible move to the Welsh club, but West Ham are keen to sign him and are willing to offer him £70,000 a week to secure him.
The battle to sign Gignac is also said to be a very busy one too, with West Brom having supposedly offered him a ‘huge contract offer’. However there is still interest from the Hammers along with other teams like Southampton, Stoke and Newcastle, all keen to sign the profilic French target man.
Will the two want to team up again though after Gignac had this to say about Ayew and his brother Jordan.
