Manchester United have opened direct club-to-club talks with West Ham United over Crysencio Summerville.
Ben Jacobs reports that United have made contact with West Ham, with the approach still described as exploratory at this stage. Summerville is now high in United’s thinking after his profile rose during the World Cup.
West Ham have expected serious interest in the Dutch winger since relegation. The decision now is whether Daniel Kretinsky and Nuno Espirito Santo hold their line, or allow another key attacker to follow Mateus Fernandes out of the club.
Nuno Needs A Firm Summerville Stance
Summerville is one of West Ham’s most valuable saleable assets. His pace, carry threat and end product make him an obvious Premier League target, especially for a United side still assessing Marcus Rashford’s future.
The financial argument is clear. A fee around the £50m mark would give West Ham room to reshape Nuno’s Championship squad.
The football risk is just as sharp. Fernandes has already gone, and losing Summerville would remove another decisive ball-carrier before pre-season has settled.
ReadWestHam has already examined how Anthony Musaba interest could shape a Crysencio Summerville succession plan. United’s approach moves that discussion into a more serious place.
West Ham should not let exploratory talks set the tone. If United want Summerville, they need to pay like a club buying a premium attacker, not one trying to take advantage of relegation.
