Ria Bose England Call-Up Strengthens West Ham Women Pathway Case

West Ham United defender Ria Bose has been handed another England U20 call-up as the Young Lionesses step up their World Cup preparations in the United States.

West Ham confirmed that Bose has been named in Lydia Bedford’s 24-player squad for fixtures against the USA and Colombia.

England Football said the squad will travel to the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center near Atlanta as part of the third of four summer preparation blocks before the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

England face the United States on Thursday, 9 July before meeting Colombia on Wednesday, 15 July.

For West Ham, this is more than a routine international notice. Bose joined the Hammers from Sporting CP in January and made her senior WSL debut in the final game of the 2025/26 campaign.

Her latest England involvement also comes after a useful summer moment. West Ham reported in June that Bose delivered the stoppage-time cross which helped England U20s beat Canada 1-0.

That gives the club a clear development case to protect. Bose is gaining youth international exposure while also moving closer to the senior picture in east London.

England have been drawn with Brazil, Tanzania and Canada for September’s tournament. If Bose turns this camp into a final World Cup place, West Ham will have a defender returning with tournament-level minutes, profile and confidence before the new domestic campaign.

For a club trying to show a credible academy-to-first-team route, that matters.
