West Ham coach appears to confirm future as he makes admission on star winger

West Ham United are trying to prepare for a future in the Championship but this summer has had other things in mind so far.

The club needs to raise funds, but a change in the long-term ownership has led the initial figure to shrink but players will still leave this summer. Mateus Fernandes is the big name expected to be first out of the door, with others expected to follow suit.

In fact, the only stable factor in this Hammers summer so far has been the future of Nuno Espirto Santo. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss has committed his future to the club for next season, hoping to return West Ham back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

One coach Irons fans want to see remain alongside Nuno is Paco Jemez. The Spaniard joined the coaching staff in January and was a huge part in building the team that nearly stayed up, after being seven points adrift at the beginning of 2026.

Now, Jemez has appeared to suggest he will stay at the London Stadium, whilst making an admission about star winger, Crysencio Summerville.

“I hope he stays at West Ham for many years. The goal is to return to Premier and, to achieve it, we need players like Summerville. However, if he makes a good World Cup, it will be difficult to keep him.

“The amounts that are handled in the Premier League leave you amazed, but if I were a sports director and I needed a winger, I would not hesitate to sign him. He is a big team player – could play for any ‘top’ team in Europe, no doubt.”

At present, AS Roma lead the race for Summerville, but since then Manchester United have entered the race after the 24-year-old netted for the Netherlands in their opening World Cup match.
