West Ham striker Andriy Yarmolenko has been sent off in an Under-23 Premier League Cup match against Swansea City.
The 32-year-old was getting some invaluable minutes for Mark Robson’s side having been a lesser-seen figure in the first-team this season.
However, despite scoring the games only goal, Yarmolenko’s afternoon ended shrouded in embarrassment.
Yarmolenko has been shown a red for some reason? 🤷🏻♂️

Bemused by the whole situation, the 106-cap Ukraine ace laughed as he made his way off the field at the Academy of Football.
This isn’t the only time Yarmolenko has appeared for the youth side this season having provided two assists against the Hammers’ counterparts from Arsenal back in August.
At present the experienced forward has scored once and provided one assist for David Moyes’ side this term in 21 appearances across all competitions.

Not exactly an auspicious afternoon for the Ukrainian.
Whilst it’s hard to tell whether the dismissal was indeed justified, Yarmolenko should know better than to give the referee a decision to make – particularly in a development match.
Ultimately this would appear to be another nail in the coffin of the £3.15million valued ace’s career at the London Stadium with a contract set to expire at the end of the season.
For the youth side moreover, it was progression into the next round to go alongside a second-place spot in Premier League 2.
